I thought it'd be neat to see the progression of an average chibi. :3
From Left to Right; Top to Bottom
1) Very crude sketch to map out the basic pose, and expression. I usually make 2 or 3... or if I'm lazy, I just make one. (which is sometimes a bad idea, since the proportions, even for a chibi, become too deformed.)
2) Beginning to clean up the sketch and adding permanent parts. (eyes) My digital sketches almost always become the lineart. (my lazy ways again)
3) Cleaning up the whole body for nice, thin(ner) lines. Added eyebrows and eyelid lines to make it look more... not crazy.
4) The face was slightly moved around, because it looked to baby-ish. Added a neck, because necks are good, and the head's placement was weird.
5) A sketch of the hair, following the rough head lines. This sketch is much more controlled than #1 since I have to make it clear to myself where each lock is.
6) Cleaned up all the hair as done with the body before.
7) Adding accessories/ clothes on a new layer. I do so because then I don't have to worry about messing up the body. I also put on some white (not shone) to cover up where the body is covered by the items.
8) Magically skipped steps to coloring. I usually do one region at a time; finishing one part (shading and all) then moving onto the next. Added a heart... just because. Note that I didn't add the shine to the eyes yet.
9) Flattened the whole image, and sharpened it to make the whole thing look crisp and clean.
10) Finally, I add the eye shine, and sparkles in the heart. I do this AFTER I sharpen because if I did it before, the shine becomes TOO sharp, and looks awkward. And lastly, signed!
Awesome, I love these kinds of things. But, you're doing that long arm thing again! Whenever you have one arm bent in your chibis, it gets way longer than the other! Other than that it looks good!
I've only had my tablet a few days...
That should sharpen everything.
If not, I don't know... I still don't know all the tricks in photoshop. -_-
Other than that it looks good!
